Jun 24, 2024

Learn how to solve plugin loading issues in sessions created using older Waves versions, if they’re not loading after updating to V15.

In V15, some plugins’ component names were updated:

Old nameNew name

REDD17Abbey Road REDD.17
REDD37-51Abbey Road REDD.37.51
Reel ADTAbbey Road Reel ADT
RS56Abbey Road RS56 Passive EQ
AR TG MasteringAbbey Road TG Mastering
The Kings MicrophonesAbbey Road The King’s Microphones

Most DAWs will load the plugins in existing sessions with the new names automatically.

However, some DAWs may not load the new names automatically in existing sessions after updating them to V15.

If these plugins are missing after the update, follow the relevant steps to your DAW to load the updated plugins:

  • Ableton Liverescan plugins and reopen the session.
  • Studio Onerescan plugins and reopen the session.
  • FL Studiorescan plugins and reopen the session.
  • REAPERrescan plugins and reopen the session.
  • Adobe Audition / Premiere - rescan plugins and reopen the session.
  • Reason - rescan plugins and reopen the session.
  • Machine - rescan plugins and reopen the session.
  • Komplete Kontrol - rescan plugins and reopen the session.
  • Bitwig Studio doesn’t have the ability to link the old name with the new one.
Follow these steps to save your plugin settings and load them in V15:
    1. Roll your plugins back to V14.
    2. Open Bitwig and load an existing session.
    3. Open one of the Waves plugins inserted in your session.
    4. In the plugin interface, open the presets menu using the WaveSystem Toolbar, then click Save to save the plugin settings to a preset file.
    5. Repeat this action for any instance of the plugins mentioned above.
    6. Repeat the process for every session that uses one of these plugins.
    7. Once done, reinstall the plugins in V15.
    8. Open Bitwig and rescan for plugins.
    9. Open one of the existing sessions.
    10. Replace the old plugin instance with a new instance that has the new name.
    11. Open the presets menu using the  WaveSystem Toolbar, click ‘Load’, navigate to the .xps preset file you saved, and select it to load the settings from it.
