How to Configure X32/M32 Console Clock Settings with DN-32 WSG Expansion Card

Dec 16, 2024

Learn how to configure your X32/M32 console clock settings to ensure your DN32-WSG expansion card is synced with the console.

To maintain a stable audio environment, all devices in an audio setup need to be synchronized to the same audio clock.

In a SoundGrid network, one SoundGrid I/O device must serve as the SoE (Sync-over-Ethernet) clock master. Even if this clock master device is "slaved" to an external system (the host console in this case), it will continue to function as the master clock within the SoundGrid environment.

Make sure that your console and expansion card are configured appropriately, as described below:

How to Adjust DN-32 WSG Expansion Card Clock Settings

Access the DN-32 WSG control panel using SuperRack SoundGrid, QRec, or eMotion LV1.

In the SoundGrid Inventory, press the cogwheel button (see below).

Use one of the clock source pairings below (under ‘Source’):

  • Digital: The DN-32 card relies on the console's clock. For this setup, set the console’s clock source to Internal or AES A/B.
  • Internal: The DN-32 card uses its own internal clock. If this option is selected in SoundGrid, the console’s clock source must be set to Expansion Card.
  • SoE: The DN-32 card follows the clock of a different SoundGrid clock master. This clock source will be selected automatically if another SoundGrid I/O is appointed as SG master. For this configuration, set the console’s clock source to Expansion Card.
