Feb 12, 2024

Waves Stream is an easy-to-use remote audio collaboration service that lets you share audio from your DAW in real time. This guide will help you quickly set up and use Waves Stream for seamless audio sharing experiences.

How to get started

  1. Waves Account Setup: If you already have a Waves account, sign in. If you do not have a Waves account yet, sign up here.
  2. Subscribe: The Waves Stream service is available on its own as a monthly or annual subscription, and is also included in both Waves Creative Access (Ultimate or Essential) subscriptions. Start one of these subscription options to get access to Waves Stream.
  3. Download and install the Waves Stream plugins to your DAW. Learn how to install Waves plugins here.
If you already have a Waves Creative Access plugin subscription (Essential or Ultimate), and the plugins are already installed, simply update your subscription in Waves Central. Learn how to install updates.

To start streaming:

  1. Launch your DAW and insert the Waves Stream Send plugin on your master bus (or any specific channel you want to stream).
  2. Press the Start Stream button to initiate an audio stream using the Waves Stream Send plugin. Start Stream button
  3. Once the stream has started, the stream URL will be copied automatically to your clipboard. Paste the URL and send it to the listener, or scan the QR code to access the stream from a mobile device.
  4. If you want to secure your stream, you can lock it by setting up a passcode in the dropdown menu: setting up a passcode
  5. Utilize microphone capabilities and sidechain options for diverse audio inputs and interactions.

To join and listen to a stream:

  1. To listen to a stream, join by pasting the stream URL in a web browser or in the Waves Stream Receive plugin in your DAW.
  2. Unmute the stream to start listening (we have deliberately designed the Waves Stream Receive plugin to first open up muted, so that you have full control when to start hearing the audio): Unmute the stream to start listening
