How to Add Downloaded Presets to Waves Plugins

Jul 11, 2022

Have you downloaded plugin presets that are not already included in the plugin? Learn how to add them to the plugin’s factory or user preset menus.

Presets for newer plugins (released after November 2018) go in the factory presets folder:

Plugins released (or re-released with new skins) after November 2018 have an accessible factory presets folder, usually with an ‘Artists’ folder within it.

Drop your new preset files in that folder in order to access them via the factory presets menu:

  1. Download and unzip the preset package.
  2. Copy all (or select) sub-folders to the following location:

    Important Notes:

If you are seeing no such folder in this location – this means that the plugin is older (released before November 2018).
In such a case, skip to the next section below.
    • Mac: Mac HD > Applications > Waves > Data > Presets > Plugin Name > Artists*
    • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\Data\Presets\Plugin Name > Artists*
    * Some plugins, such as SSL EV2 channel, do not have an “Artists” folder, in that case just paste the new presets in the plugins’ main factory preset folder.
  3. Relaunch your DAW, new presets will now appear in the ‘Load’ menu and in the Preset Browser.

Presets for older plugins (released before November 2018) go in the User Preset folder:

Plugins released before November 2018 do not have a factory presets folder (nor should one be added manually!).

For these plugins, drop new preset downloads in the User Presets folder and access them via the user presets menu:

  1. Download and unzip the preset package.
  2. Load in your DAW the plugin to which you wish to add presets.
  3. Click on the preset name on the WaveSystem toolbar – the preset menu will open.
  4. Select ‘Show User Presets Folder’ at the bottom of the menu.
This will create a folder (if one did not yet exist) in:
    • Mac: Mac HD > Users > Shared > Waves > Plug-In Settings > Plugin Name.
    • Windows: C:\Users\Public\Waves Audio\Plug-In Settings\Plugin Name.
  5. Copy all (or select) sub-folders to this location.
  6. New presets will now appear in the ‘Load’ menu and in the Preset Browser.
